About the Partner: Hays County is one of the oldest chapters of the Texas Master Naturalist program, a statewide organization sponsored jointly by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. They provide training and volunteer opportunities to individuals passionate about preserving and protecting natural resources. Their citizen scientists play a crucial role in implementing education programs, enhancing parks and natural areas, and collaborating on local conservation efforts.

Services & Areas of Operation:

  • Training Programs: Offers bi-annual training sessions for individuals interested in becoming Master Naturalists.
  • Hays County Friends of the Night Sky: Is part of a Hays County Master Naturalist Project whose aim is to provide education on responsible outdoor lighting. HCFNS purposefully includes non Master Naturalist to fully engage county residents in reducing light pollution. HCFNS often works closely with DarkSky Texas.
  • Community Outreach: Engages in educational programs and collaborates with local organizations to promote conservation.
